I’m Zhenhao (Alex) Zheng, and I am a high school student at Diamond Bar High School in California.

I love fishing because it gives me a unique sense of connection with nature. However, I discovered through experience that conventional fishing methods result in major damage to marine ecosystems. Unless we take action, future generations may inherit seas choked with waste instead of oceans full of life. That is why I decided to make a change. I launched an online store when I was 16. I wanted to use it to help promote eco-friendly fishing.

I am thankful for all the backing I have gotten from fishing supply stores and boat owners and people who endorse this mission together with fellow anglers who want to protect the oceans.

My journey

I’ve been drawn to the water for as long as I can remember, picking up a fishing rod for the first time at just three years old. By seven, I had stepped into the world of saltwater fishing, where the challenges of the open sea quickly became my passion. Over the years, I’ve spent countless early mornings and long days learning the rhythm of the ocean, sharpening my skills, and embracing everything the sport has to offer. While I care deeply about protecting the environment I fish in, it’s my early start, constant dedication, and love for the craft that truly define me as a fisherman.

I’ve always loved using creativity to support the people around me, especially in my hometown. After getting to know a local raft owner (Mr. Yang) and seeing the hard work and dedication he and other small business owners put into their craft, I decided to help in the best marketing way I knew how—by making videos. I filmed and edited promotional content to showcase their business and scenery. Years later, his business transformed from a raft to a fishing boat. I also made video advertisements for him to promote his business.
